臺(tái)州是一座美麗的濱海城市，位于浙江沿海中部，轄3個(gè)區(qū)、2個(gè)縣級(jí)市和4個(gè)縣，陸地面積9411平方公里，海域面積8萬(wàn)多平方公里，總?cè)丝?56萬(wàn)。

臺(tái)州市委市政府確定的戰(zhàn)略目標(biāo)是：把臺(tái)州建設(shè)成為長(zhǎng)三角地區(qū)先進(jìn)制造業(yè)基地、東南沿海現(xiàn)代化港口大城市和中國(guó)民營(yíng)經(jīng)濟(jì)創(chuàng)新示范區(qū)，力爭(zhēng)在全面建設(shè)小康社會(huì)與和諧社會(huì)中走在全省前列。
1997年1月30日經(jīng)浙江省人民政府批準(zhǔn)，原椒江經(jīng)濟(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)升級(jí)更名為臺(tái)州經(jīng)濟(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)，同年5月12日，臺(tái)州經(jīng)濟(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)管委會(huì)正式掛牌運(yùn)作。1997年6月25日，省政府批準(zhǔn)區(qū)內(nèi)的原椒江臺(tái)商投資區(qū)更名為臺(tái)州臺(tái)商投資區(qū)。1998年6月，省政府批準(zhǔn)在開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)內(nèi)創(chuàng)建臺(tái)州高新技術(shù)產(chǎn)業(yè)園區(qū)。2001年8月，經(jīng)省政府批準(zhǔn)，開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)東擴(kuò)11平方公里。
目前，臺(tái)州經(jīng)濟(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)實(shí)際開(kāi)發(fā)建設(shè)區(qū)域由中心城區(qū)、濱海新區(qū)、三山北涂圍墾區(qū)三大區(qū)塊組成。一是中心城區(qū)。位于臺(tái)州中心城市規(guī)劃中的核心區(qū)塊，其中東環(huán)大道以東主要為工業(yè)科技園區(qū)；東環(huán)大道以西為城市新區(qū)，其中3平方公里的城市核心區(qū)包括市級(jí)行政中心、金融商貿(mào)中心和文化體育中心三個(gè)組團(tuán)。二是濱海新區(qū)。2004年，臺(tái)州市委、市政府為加快臺(tái)州沿海產(chǎn)帶建設(shè)，拓展臺(tái)州工業(yè)發(fā)展空間，作出建設(shè)濱海工業(yè)新城的重大決策，并決定由臺(tái)州經(jīng)濟(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)負(fù)責(zé)濱海工業(yè)城中部區(qū)塊的開(kāi)發(fā)建設(shè)。三是三山北涂圍墾區(qū)。2005年，為加快臺(tái)州沿海灘涂資源利用，拓展城市發(fā)展空間，臺(tái)州市委、市政府決定由臺(tái)州經(jīng)濟(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)和臺(tái)州市水利局作為建設(shè)業(yè)主，負(fù)責(zé)臺(tái)州市三山北涂圍墾工程的建設(shè)工作，圍區(qū)總面積13.9平方公里，總投資概算4.8億元。
臺(tái)州經(jīng)濟(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)作為臺(tái)州對(duì)外開(kāi)放的窗口、本級(jí)經(jīng)濟(jì)的載體、區(qū)域經(jīng)濟(jì)的龍頭、中心城市的核心區(qū)和體制改革的先導(dǎo)，承載著“發(fā)展經(jīng)濟(jì)、建設(shè)新城”的雙重任務(wù)。開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)管委會(huì)作為市政府的派出機(jī)構(gòu)，在市政府的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下，對(duì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)實(shí)行統(tǒng)一領(lǐng)導(dǎo)和管理，代表市政府負(fù)責(zé)對(duì)區(qū)塊進(jìn)行開(kāi)發(fā)、建設(shè)和管理。管委會(huì)現(xiàn)有辦公室、政治部、財(cái)政分局、外經(jīng)貿(mào)局、經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展局（統(tǒng)計(jì)局）、現(xiàn)代服務(wù)業(yè)辦公室、建設(shè)局、國(guó)土分局、社會(huì)發(fā)展局等職能機(jī)構(gòu)，同時(shí)下設(shè)招商中心、土地儲(chǔ)備中心、拆遷辦、商業(yè)街管理辦公室（與社會(huì)發(fā)展局合署辦公）、土管所等5個(gè)事業(yè)單位以及3家具國(guó)有獨(dú)立法人資格的公司：臺(tái)州經(jīng)濟(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展總公司、臺(tái)州市濱海建設(shè)發(fā)展有限公司和臺(tái)州市三山涂圍墾開(kāi)發(fā)有限公司。
建區(qū)十年來(lái)，臺(tái)州經(jīng)濟(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)管委會(huì)按照“三年打基礎(chǔ)，完成齊備的基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施建設(shè)；三年構(gòu)輪廓，完成中心城市的框架構(gòu)建；四年增內(nèi)涵，實(shí)現(xiàn)產(chǎn)業(yè)集聚，提升產(chǎn)業(yè)內(nèi)涵、文化內(nèi)涵”的發(fā)展思路，加快區(qū)塊的開(kāi)發(fā)建設(shè)工作，已直接投入資金55億元，帶動(dòng)社會(huì)投資350億元，在昔日的荒郊田野上崛起了一座設(shè)施完善、環(huán)境優(yōu)美、社會(huì)文明的現(xiàn)代化新城。

Taizhou Economic Development Zone(TEDZ) was established in 1997. It is a provincial-level economic development zone, a provincial-level zone for Taiwan investors and a provincial-level hi-tech industrial garden. The whole zone has an area of 60 square km. 1111Taizhou is the largest production base of plastic moulds in China and it enjoys the reputation as "the hometown of moulds" and "the kingdom of plastic products". There are more than 10 thousand enterprises producing Plastic or Moulds in Taizhou. The consumption of raw materials of plastic resin account for 12.5% of the total consumption in China. Besides daily necessities, Engineering plastics , electromechanical accessories and packing plastics are produced in Taizhou. The volume of production and sale of freezers ,air conditioning plant, pressure cooker and lavatory appliances occupie first place in the whole country. ●Garment Machinery
11 Taizhou is the largest production and export base of garment machinery in China. There are nearly 2000 enterprises producing garment machinery in Taizhou ,and can produce more than 300 kinds of products, such as industrial sewing machines , household sewing machine , electronic cutting machine ,etc. And the annual output capacity reaches 4 million, the output and export quantity account for 40% of China , occupying first in the whole country; Winding sewing machine and output of cutting machine account for 70% of international market. Feiyue group is the biggest sewing machine producing company in China, ‘Feiyue’ and ‘Gem’ are evaluated the Chinese Famous Brand.

The scale, technology and quality of water pump products rank in the top place of the whole country. Domestic market occupation rate of some products are up to 75%, such as submersible pump , spiral shell pole pump and household pump ,etc. There are laudatory title of " homeland of the pump ", " capital of Chinese valve " for Taizhou. Taizhou is also the largest production and export base of low-voltage copper valve in China, and the export quantity of low-voltage copper valve and heating fittings accounts for more than 50% of the whole country.

臺(tái)州鞋帽服裝行業(yè)是企業(yè)家數(shù)最多、分布最廣、最具有塊狀集群優(yōu)勢(shì)的行業(yè)，企業(yè)近1.9萬(wàn)多家，鞋帽有注塑仿皮鞋、真皮鞋、旅游鞋、注塑涼鞋、傳統(tǒng)草編帽及工藝帽等十二個(gè)系列40多種產(chǎn)品；臺(tái)州為中國(guó)最大的注塑鞋生產(chǎn)基地，其中注塑仿皮鞋出口量占全國(guó)的50%以上；服裝則有羊毛衫、西服、童裝和傳統(tǒng)繡衣等五大系列近10種產(chǎn)品。

● Highway
The main lines of Taizhou are the highway network of the expressway and national highway. YongTaiWen Expressway, Shangyu-Sanmen Expressway, National Highway 104 and Taizhou-Jing hua Expressway, JinTai Railway,the last two under construction, are running across the city. Any two urban district in Taizhou are within 45 minutes' drive and it takes only 2 hours and 4 hours respectively to Hangzhou and Shanghai.

臺(tái)州港以海門(mén)港區(qū)為中心，大麥嶼港區(qū)、健跳港區(qū)為南北翼，是多功能、全方位、綜合性的實(shí)業(yè)大港。海門(mén)港區(qū)緊鄰臺(tái)州經(jīng)濟(jì)開(kāi)發(fā)區(qū)2公里，已建有萬(wàn)噸級(jí)碼頭61座，辟有國(guó)際定期集裝箱航班，港區(qū)與臺(tái)灣基隆、福州、寧波諸港相距均在200海里以內(nèi)。

111 Taizhou harbor is a big multi-functional, multi- directional and comprehensive Chinese harbor ,and takes Haimen Harbor area as the center, DaMaiyu Harbor area, Jiantiao Harbor area as the two wings on the northern and southern end. Haimen Harbor, 2 km. fromTEDZ,has already established 61 quays of 10-thousand-ton-class, and links to the world by regular container liners. It is less than 200 nautical miles away from Keelung of Taiwan, Fuzhou and Ningbo.
